About the role
The Special Education Specialist position is part of the Special Services department within the school district. This role supports students with special needs in various educational settings.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) plans for students.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student learning and development.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities.
- Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Participate in IEP meetings and other related meetings as needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- A valid teaching certificate with an endorsement in Special Education from OSPI.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of state and federal laws related to special education.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes.
Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
