SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS
- Ranging from Elementary Grades through Middle School and High School Grades
- Starting at $45,600 as per the UBTA salary schedule/Contract
- New York State Special education certification required (other certifications may be considered)
SERVICE-RELATED PROVIDERS - SCHOOL COUNSELOR
- Provide school counseling services to Special Education students in individual and/or group settings
- New York State Counselor Certification required
RELATED SERVICE PROVIDERS - SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
- (May be assigned as Home School Liaison)
- Provide school social work services to students and parents
- Serves as liaison between home and school when necessary
- Consults and collaborates with other school personnel for the benefit of the students
- Assists students directly toward adjustment to school
- Performs other duties as required by position
QUALIFICATIONS
- New York State Social Worker Certification required
TEACHER ASSISTANTS
- Basic Function: Provides direct instructional support to students under the general supervision of a certified teacher
- Works as a member of a team in the classroom where the teacher has ultimate responsibility for developing and planning the educational program
- The teaching assistant has the ability to assume teacher responsibilities
- Starting at $26,500 as per UBTA salary schedule/contract
- Possession or be eligible for NYS Teaching Assistant Certificate
RELATED SERVICE PROVIDERS - SPEECH PATHOLOGIST
- This is a professional position involving responsibility for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of language, voice, and speech disorders
- The work is performed upon the written order or referral of a physician who provides medical direction
- Supervision of other is not normally a function of this position
- A Speech Pathologist does related work as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Qualifications: Licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as a Speech Pathologist
TEACHER AIDES (Continuous Recruitment)
- This is responsible work involving the performance of non-teaching tasks relating to the teaching process in a classroom or school
- Incumbents relieve the teaching staff of that part of their duties related to teaching, which may be performed by a non-teacher
- The duties of this class differ from those of School Monitor due to the more complex nature of the assignments that are performed, though on a limited basis Teacher Aide may be assigned monitoring duties
- A Teacher Aide does related work as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
- -OR-
- B.) Training or experience in an area which will be utilized to aid the teaching process.
