Special Education Paraprofessional - SDC
Starting date: 2026-27 school year. Hours: 6.75 per day in a Specially Designed Classroom (SDC) Class III. Starting rate of pay: $24.83 per hour.
About the role
Assist Special Education Licensed Staff with academic adaptations, self-care, and social/behavioral needs for students in special education. This support may be provided in the general education classroom, special education classroom, or community.
Special attention will be given to candidates with experience working with students who present emotional and behavioral challenges. Ideal applicants will have experience with positive behavior support strategies, utilizing trauma-informed practices to reinforce a structured, supportive environment that promotes student growth and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist with academic adaptations for students in special education
- Support self-care and social/behavioral needs of students
- Work in various settings (general education classroom, special education classroom, or community)
- Implement positive behavior support strategies and trauma-informed practices
- Lift, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds as needed
- Assist in the eating and toileting needs of students
- Maintain data privacy and confidentiality for all students
Requirements
- High School diploma required
- Highly Qualified Status Required
- Preference for 2-year post-secondary training
- Flexibility to work in a variety of settings with diverse students and staff
- Computer skills preferred
