Special Education Paraprofessional - Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) 3.25 hrs/day

About the Role

A Special Education Paraprofessional at Westwood Schools, primarily supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in grades 5-8 in a center-based classroom as well as general education classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a licensed Special Education staff, implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) customized and personalized for students.
• Work with students with disabilities in individual, small group, and large group environments, in both general and special education settings.
• Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team and work independently as needed.
• Provide support to students in collaboration with teachers and school staff.
• Participate in and provide information for team meetings related to student success and next actions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Completed 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits and/or AA degree OR passing score on the ParaPro Assessment (available in the Human Resources Office; can be taken after a job offer).
• Ability to pass a pre-work physical and complete PCA training.
• Training and experience in the use of computers and other technology equipment.
• Ability to act in a leadership role and independently initiate and follow through on tasks with minimal supervision.
• Effective oral and written communication skills for working with students, families, community representatives, and school personnel.

Working Conditions

• Physical demands include lifting up to 40 pounds, frequent bending and/or twisting, and possibly physically restraining students.

Pay

$20.75–$24.20 per hour. Additional $0.75 per hour differential if the employee holds a bachelor’s degree.
