Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in delivering instructional activities and lessons to students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Help prepare instructional materials and resources for classroom activities.
  • Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Auxiliary in managing student behavior and implementing classroom rules and procedures.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks.
  • Provide academic assistance to students, including tutoring and homework help.
  • Support students' social and emotional development by fostering positive interactions and relationships.
  • Monitor students' progress and communicate any concerns to the teacher.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to support student learning and development.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate on strategies to support student success.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and needs.
  • Aid in record-keeping, including attendance, grades, and other student data.
  • Organize and maintain classroom materials and supplies.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the teacher or principal.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Successful passing of ParaPro test if no higher degree acquired.
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of technology for educational and administrative purposes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move freely for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift and move educational materials and supplies as necessary.
  • Ability to supervise and interact with students in a variety of settings.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a classroom setting and may require traveling between classrooms and schools.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for school events and meetings.
