Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering instructional activities and lessons to students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning concepts.
- Help prepare instructional materials and resources for classroom activities.
- Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
- Help maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Auxiliary in managing student behavior and implementing classroom rules and procedures.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks.
- Provide academic assistance to students, including tutoring and homework help.
- Support students' social and emotional development by fostering positive interactions and relationships.
- Monitor students' progress and communicate any concerns to the teacher.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to support student learning and development.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate on strategies to support student success.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and needs.
- Aid in record-keeping, including attendance, grades, and other student data.
- Organize and maintain classroom materials and supplies.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the teacher or principal.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Successful passing of ParaPro test if no higher degree acquired.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Basic proficiency in the use of technology for educational and administrative purposes.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and move freely for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift and move educational materials and supplies as necessary.
- Ability to supervise and interact with students in a variety of settings.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a classroom setting and may require traveling between classrooms and schools.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for school events and meetings.
