Special Education Paraprofessional - 6.75 hours per day Summary Working under supervision of the classroom teacher and other special education professionals. Carries out the educational programs developed by the special education teacher. Assists with special education students as requested by the building administrator. COMPENSATION: $15.00 per hour Essential Duties And Responsibilities Classroom Management and Instruction: Assist with classroom management and instructionProviding attention, direction and assistance to students when appropriateCommunicating regularly with the teacher regarding daily plans and any observationsWorking in small groups with studentsImplementing teacher-planned activities for individuals and small groups of studentsEncouraging appropriate behaviorAssisting in the implementation of the students' behavior management programObserving, recording and charting academic and behavioral progressAccompanying and/or assisting mainstreamed students in regular classroomsServing as resource person for the substitute upon teacher absenceWorking with general education students and other special education students in the building when requested. However, arbitrary movement of personnel outside their assignments should be avoided. Assist With Students Outside The Classroom Supervising your students first at free time, in corridors, lavatories, lunchroom, playground, etc. and then the general population.Helping with field trips, school parties and club activitiesEscorting students to various locations in buildingToileting and diapering studentsMeeting, loading and unloading busesSome specialized training may be required to meet the needs of the students. Should additional training be required to assist special education students it will be at no cost to the employee. Assumes any other job related duties, which may from time to time be delegated by building administration/special education supervisors. Furthermore, the superior shall make any adjustments in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the best interest of the school district.
