Responsibilities
- Aid individual students or groups in completing tasks initiated by the teacher.
- Implement instructional programs and lessons as planned by the supervising teacher in various settings.
- Reinforce concepts and skills taught by the teacher in small groups and individually.
- Utilize assistive technology and communication devices as needed.
- Implement accommodations outlined in the IEP and as directed by the Case Manager/teacher.
- Redirect inappropriate behavior and enforce behavior plans.
- Facilitate interactions between students with disabilities and their peers.
- Model and teach strategies to peers for interacting with students with disabilities.
- Support the development of communication skills for students with disabilities.
- Assist students with daily living skills such as eating, toileting, grooming, dressing, etc.
- Provide assistance with transfers, positioning, and mobility needs as required.
- Inform general education staff about the student’s programs and participation.
- Collect and share relevant information with other paraprofessionals.
- Attend IEP meetings as requested by the Case Manager.
- Supervise and assist students during playtime, lunch, assemblies, field trips, etc.
- Show knowledge of the curriculum content for classes where they assist.
- Participate in training and in-services related to skills and competencies.
- Be discreet and respectful of confidential information.
- Work cooperatively with all school personnel.
- Show a warm and receptive attitude towards all students.
- Comply with school district employment policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a two-year degree or passing score on the ParaPro Exam.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience with different learning styles and curriculum planning.
- Experience with differentiation and instructional methods.
- Willingness to identify, interpret, and follow school policies and procedures.
- Initiative and self-starter attitude, especially beneficial for hard-to-fill positions or those with specialized skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend frequently, and lift up to 50#.
Position Information
Hourly Rate Range: The 2026-2027 hourly rate range for this position is $21-$32 per hour. Offers will consider experience, education, skills, and the school district's budget. Exceptional candidates may receive higher rates for specialized skills or hard-to-fill positions.
Duty Days: Modified year-round, 179 duty days per year.
Time Off: 3 days of paid time off (PTO), and 10 days of sick leave to accrue.
