About the role
Putnam Middle School is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator to support students within a specialized program. The role is crucial in empowering middle school students with diverse and often intensive learning needs.
Responsibilities
- Support middle school students with diverse learning needs, providing vital academic, behavioral, and social-emotional assistance.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists to implement individual instructional and behavioral plans.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment where all students feel welcome.
- Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by certified staff.
- Adapt to evolving student needs and assist with daily classroom activities and transitions.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment OR at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
- Experience working in a school system is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young adolescents, showing patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to follow directions from certified staff, maintain a high degree of professionalism, and ensure student confidentiality at all times.
