Performance Responsibilities

  • Provides and appropriate program for special education students consistent with federal and state guidelines.
  • Works cooperatively with regular classroom teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of the special education students to the staff and assisting the special education student with regular class assignments.
  • Confers regularly with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and personal problems of students.
  • Affords assistance to other professional staff members in meeting the unique needs of each student.
  • Affords assistance in screening and evaluating students who are exhibiting learning problems.
  • Affords assistance to students in making realistic assessments of their abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with these abilities.
  • Provide motivation for learning.
  • Maintains attendance records and any other data pertinent to the special education program.
  • Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development; for keeping current with literature, new research findings, and improving techniques; and for attending appropriate professional meetings and conventions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment

  • Ten month year.
  • Salary to be established by the Board.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
