Special Education IA/PCA in Life Skills Support

About the role

The Central York School District (CYSD) seeks a dedicated and reliable full-time Special Education Instructional Assistant/Personal Care Assistant (IA/PCA) to support students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a personal assistant to special needs students, providing assistance in learning activities, special projects, and personal care activities.
• Provide and facilitate learning support activities for all or an assigned subject area.
• Assist students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), including staying focused, monitoring behavior, and preparing for quizzes and tests.
• Prepare and administer quizzes and tests as per IEP guidelines, under the guidance of the classroom teacher and learning support teacher.
• Attend and participate in IEP and team meetings, becoming familiar with the IEPs of students serviced.
• Support assigned departments, prepare and set up learning activities, and provide one-on-one assistance with learning activities and test taking.
• Develop and implement learning activities, record assessment data, and perform testing for special needs students.
• Read and provide information from IEPs to teachers and others assisting the student.
• Perform other duties as assigned, such as office support, cafeteria duty, and recess duty.

Qualifications

• Two years of post-secondary education required or a Highly Qualified Special Education Certificate through PDE or satisfactory completion of the CAPE Test.
• Experience with children with Autism preferred; advanced training/degree a plus.
• Demonstrate the ability to be highly structured and organized and possess good communication skills.
• Must have obtained (or will obtain) valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Criminal History Background Checks within the last twelve (12) months.

Pay

$14.00-$18.75 hourly rate, step placement based on years of service recognized by the employer.

Schedule

7.25 hours per day, 186 days per year.
