- High school diploma.
- Ability to perform work requested.
- Prior experience preferred.
- Maintains or is eligible for State of Maine Educational Technician I Certificate.
Work Year
Year-round, per Educational Technician Bargaining Agreement.
Job Goals
To facilitate the educational process for students by supporting and enhancing the educational services offered by the teaching staff and to reinforce student academic skills in all educational settings assigned.
Performance Responsibilities
- Ability to read, reason, and understand policies and procedures and related information and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
- Physical ability to perform all necessary upper and lower body movement.
- Ability to do reaching, lifting, basic math, writing, eye-hand coordination, sitting and stooping.
- Observes, consults with, and assists individual classroom teachers in their instructional and classroom performance.
- Works with students as assigned by the teacher individually or in groups doing activities prescribed by the teacher.
- Supplements and reinforces material taught in the classroom, instructs designated students for the purpose of enhancing academic capabilities.
- Performs such clerical duties as assigned to allow the teacher more time to teach, consult, etc.
- Assists students to develop study and organization skills.
- Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
- Aids the teacher in working more effectively with students.
- Aids the teacher in testing or screening procedures.
- Supervises students in transit as assigned.
- Performs such related duties as may reasonably be assigned from time to time.
- Is familiar with and follows all school district approved policies and procedures.
- Completes any and all assigned tasks appropriate to certification requested by supervising teacher or building administrator.
Terms Of Employment
- Salary, work year and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policy on evaluation.
Physical Demands
- The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, climb stairs, lift (ranging from 25-75 lbs depending on student size), bend, pull, push, walk, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical tasks that may be required from time to time.
