Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university
  • Master’s Degree from a recognized, accredited college or university preferred
  • Texas certification in elementary or secondary education preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as an ECSE teacher
  • Knowledge of and successful experience implementing research-based strategies in working with students with disabilities
  • Demonstrated skill in leading, motivating, coaching, and teaching other teachers and paraeducators
  • Successful experience identifying functions of behavior and developing individualized behavior support plans
  • Demonstrated skill in leading, motivating, coaching, and collaborating with teachers

Pay

$67,640/IA-3 Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year

Responsibilities

  • Coach campus/district staff in implementation of behavioral strategies and interventions which results in positive student behavior
  • Assist teachers/campus staff with development of effective and measurable behavior intervention plans (BIP) and behavioral goals
  • Assist in the implementation of the curricular models for ECSE
  • Assist teachers in modifying and accommodating the general education curriculum for students receiving special education services in the general education setting
  • Assist teachers and campus staff in writing and implementing developmentally appropriate standards-based IEPs
  • Assist teachers with the selection of appropriate data collection systems for students
  • Develop and conduct district-wide staff development for ECSE staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function

Working Conditions

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: Frequent in-district travel
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
