Role Mission

The Special Education Co-Teacher position at IDEA provides hands-on experience in Special Education teaching, challenging work, and opportunities for career advancement.

• Compensation: Hourly rate ranging from $16.05 for 0 years of experience to $20.33, paid over a 12-month period.

Qualifications

• Education: At least 48 college hours required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Experience: Classroom experience or working with children.

• Licenses/Certifications: Willingness to pursue a Special Education teaching certification.

• Knowledge and Skills: Ability to instruct students, manage behavior, organize, communicate, and interact effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students.

• Implement Individual Education Plans and monitor student progress.

• Support individual students inside and outside the classroom.

• Work with other professionals like speech therapists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists.

• Maintain student records and assist with daily living tasks in the Life Skills Unit.

• May assist with school bus rides for students.
