Position Overview
Under direct teacher supervision, performs a variety of tasks assisting a teacher in the development of an instructional program by working with students individually or in small groups. Prepares instructional materials, maintains classroom discipline, and conducts planned activities using teacher designated methods and materials. Provides assistance for the physically and intellectually disabled, learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, etc.
About the Role
This is a General Education Classification position within the Special Education Department. The position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks under the direction of a teacher to support the educational program.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of an instructional program by working with students individually or in small groups.
- Prepares instructional materials, maintains classroom discipline, and conducts planned activities using teacher designated methods and materials.
- Provides assistance for the physically and intellectually disabled, learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, etc.
Requirements
- Two years of college (minimum 72 credits in academic coursework), Associates Degree or higher, or pass the Highly Qualified exam.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices.
