Working under the supervision of teachers, you are a vital part of the total instructional program. The services performed include instructional, clerical, supervisory, and behavior management duties. The overall role is to provide support services to the classroom teacher, implementing programming as directed by classroom teachers, administrators, or the Case Conference Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Develop positive, respectful relationships with students and staff.
  • Work effectively in an inclusion environment with students and staff.
  • Be punctual, professional, and notify co-workers and administration prior to necessary absences.
  • Collaborate and share information with the teacher of record.
  • Assist students with organizational skills, staying on task, and reviewing/re-teaching skills.
  • Support classroom teachers with daily duties.
  • Facilitate small group instruction.
  • Complete clerical duties as assigned.
  • Supervise student behavior and activities.
  • Lift and move students.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Equipment

  • Standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier, fax machines, calculator, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Pay

$15.75 per hour.

Schedule

The position's hours will be scheduled between 6.5 and 7.5 hours per day and will be finalized at the time of hire, depending on student needs. 182 days per year.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Willingness to help special needs children.
  • Effective human relations skills, including a calm, patient personality.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Very Frequent (greater than 75%):
    • Stand for extended periods of time.
    • Lift 25 pounds.
    • Carry 25 pounds.
    • Work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings.
    • See for reading laws, codes, rules, policies, and other printed matter.
    • Communicate clearly so others understand a normal conversation.
    • Reach in all directions.
