About the role

The Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator provides individualized support to a student with special education needs as determined through the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and educational team. Working under the direction of certificated staff, the paraeducator supports the student's access to instruction, participation in school activities, social-emotional and behavioral development, safety, and increasing independence across educational settings. This position is assigned to support the needs of a specific student. The nature and level of support may change based on the student's IEP, educational needs, progress, placement, or other determinations made by the student's IEP team.

Responsibilities

• Support the student's access to instruction and participation in school activities
• Assist with the student's social-emotional and behavioral development
• Ensure the student's safety and promote increasing independence across educational settings
• Provide recess/lunch supervision as needed
