About the role
The Special Education Teacher (K-6) provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 6. They participate in planning and implementing student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities
- Tutor and assist students in academic areas
- Consult with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom environments
- Collaborate with other special education professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Participate in IEP meetings and other related meetings as needed
Requirements
- Valid NYS teaching certificate
- At least one year of teaching experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
- Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
Qualifications
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of special education methodologies and resources
- Proficient in using technology to support student learning

Pay
$45/hr, ~37 hrs/week
Schedule
7:30AM - 3PM, Monday - Friday
