Hiring Agency General Government Cabinet | Attorney General Location 1024 Capital Center Drive Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description The Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Solicitor General, Criminal Appeals Division is seeking highly motivated attorneys interested in public service and upholding the rule of law to join our team of legal professionals. The Division is responsible for representing the Commonwealth of Kentucky in all criminal appeals before the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Kentucky Supreme Court, and in defending against post-conviction challenges in state and federal court. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following Performing case-related research. Drafting briefs and other appellate documents. Working with a team of other lawyers. Participating in oral arguments. Conducting hearings as needed. The Ideal Candidate Will Have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Be admitted to the Kentucky bar or eligible to seek admission to the Kentucky bar by examination or motion. Have strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Have a basic understanding of the criminal justice system and a desire to represent the Commonwealth in post-conviction criminal litigation with emphasis on cases of extraordinary complexity or importance in state and federal courts.
