Special Assets Collections Team Leader

About the role

This position involves implementing and executing the collection/recovery process for assigned portfolios, providing leadership and direction, and managing a team to meet loss, recovery, and delinquency goals.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the collection process in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure assigned accounts are worked based on individual goals and objectives
  • Schedule collection groups to meet organizational needs and peak times
  • Negotiate with clients according to established timelines, promoting positive relationships and reducing delinquencies
  • Manage teammates' career paths by hiring, coaching, rating performance, and disciplining
  • Track daily performance and make recommendations for improvement
  • Identify underperforming teammates and coach accordingly
  • Communicate with leaders across departments to discuss past due accounts, losses, and other issues
  • Review and manage repossessions, charge-offs, and account changes according to policy guidelines
  • Mentor new leaders in Client Default Solutions to enhance their proficiency
  • Support the implementation of strategic and system-related changes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related training/experience
  • Five years of experience in collections or equivalent supervisory experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of all collection policies, procedures, and processes
  • Knowledgeable of collection practices and federal/state regulations and laws (FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA)
