About the role

The Bureau of Fraud Prevention and Prosecution is seeking a Special Agent A in the Northeast Region. This position involves uncovering facts, investigating cases, and supporting fair outcomes for programs administered by the Department of Human Services.

Responsibilities

  • Case Investigation: Conduct field investigations, gather evidence, and review records to determine eligibility and overpayment issues
  • Interview Work: Interview applicants, recipients, and other sources to collect information related to assets, income, and residence
  • Regulation Application: Apply state and federal laws and regulations when reviewing cases and preparing findings
  • Legal Preparation: Prepare reports, criminal complaints, and related documents for hearings and court proceedings
  • Collaboration Duties: Work with law enforcement partners, participate in task forces, and support agency goals

Requirements

  • One year of investigative experience and a bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
  • CLEAN/NCIC certification within two months of employment and maintained for the duration of employment
  • Understanding of investigative processes and principles
  • Adherence to the values and ethics of the OSIG
  • Professionalism and discretion in work
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform essential job functions

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of investigative experience and a bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and training

Benefits

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch
  • Telework: Opportunity to work from home part-time, up to 12 days per month, based on operational needs

Schedule

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 12 days per month, based on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

Legal Requirements

  • A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075).
