About the role
The Speakeasy Host is the first point of contact for guests, playing a critical role in delivering a world-class experience. This position engages and interacts with guests to elevate their visit while accentuating the history of Prohibition. The Speakeasy Host reports to the Food & Beverage Managers.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests to the speakeasy, escort them to assigned dining or bar areas, and provide accurate wait times while monitoring waiting lists.
- Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure efficient guest flow and service.
- Respond to guest inquiries, provide information about the speakeasy, and answer questions about the menu or services.
- Engage and interact with guests in accordance with venue guidelines, including checking IDs, controlling access, and coordinating departures.
- Protect the Museum and its guests from hazards in and around the Speakeasy and Distillery exhibit spaces by maintaining a visible presence to dissuade inappropriate behavior.
- Provide assistance to guests, employees, and visitors following established procedures.
- Play a key role in emergency situations, such as administering first aid or facilitating facility evacuations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of hospitality experience.
- Strong communication skills for interacting effectively with guests in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and navigate areas that may include stairs, uneven, or slick surfaces.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- A personable and presentable demeanor.
- Passion for creating a world-class museum experience.
- Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment where flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are essential.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Pay
$20.00 per hour.
