Spatial Designer [AQ-12227]

Location: Remote (Preferred: Within commuting distance of Mountain View, CA or NYC for periodic in-person collaboration)

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive spatial concepts, floor plans, and custom fixture designs for high-profile retail environments, flagships, and scaled retail footprints.
• Produce photorealistic 3D models, detailed renderings, and spatial fly-throughs to clearly convey spatial intent, lighting, and finish choices to key stakeholders.
• Select and document physical materials, lighting systems, and manufacturing finishes that meet Google’s premium quality standards and sustainability guidelines.
• Partner with Experience Strategists to optimize customer traffic flow, and work alongside Graphic Designers to seamlessly embed 2D brand identity into 3D structures.
• Author rigorous design intent documents, technical plan views, and elevation drawings for external fabrication and build vendors.
• Evaluate physical prototypes, material swatches, and full-scale mockups to ensure vendor execution aligns with spatial design specifications.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering tools (e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Vectorworks, KeyShot, or V-Ray).
• Strong background using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Google Workspace tools.
• Deep understanding of architectural constraints, retail fixture manufacturing, material properties, lighting design, and ergonomics/traffic flow.
• Experience collaborating with fabricators, production partners, and external agencies to bring physical retail designs to life.

Pay

Compensation Range: $175,000 - $180,000 (DOE)
