Spanish Teacher - Massabesic High School
Position Summary
Deliver appropriate instruction and services to students to ensure they develop the knowledge, skills, and habits of work necessary to become successful individuals and citizens.
Reports To
Building Administration (Principal and/or Assistant Principal)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in specific area of teaching
- Holds appropriate Maine Department of Education Certification
- Specific preparation to teach at the appropriate level
Performance Responsibilities
- Plan a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students in a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to their maturity and interests.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons and projects.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Absess student accomplishments regularly and provide feedback as required.
- Assess learning difficulties and seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Strive to improve professionally through ongoing learning and reflection.
- Assist administration in implementing school policies and maintaining a fair, orderly classroom.
- Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, funds, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
- Organize class materials and plans to ensure minimal disruption during teacher absences.
- Utilize community resources when available.
- Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when reasonably requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the School Board's policy on evaluation.
Physical Demands
- The Employee Must Be Able To Sit, stand, climb stairs, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, push, and pull.
- Lift 25–75 lbs (depending on student size).
- Perform other physical tasks as required.
