Responsibilities

  • Adheres to rules, regulations, and bylaws of the Board of Education.
  • Complies promptly with all administrative directives.
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge and application of the philosophy, courses of study, techniques, and objectives applicable to the area of specialization and assignment.
  • Directs and evaluates the learning experiences of the pupil.
  • Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to good instruction.
  • Ensures parents are accurately informed of student growth and development.
  • Participates in in-service education programs and professional growth activities, including faculty committees and system-wide committee assignments.
  • Participates in assignments and activities to promote better school-community relations (parent conferences, activities, etc).

Qualifications

  • Proper Connecticut teaching certification required (023 Spanish, 7-12).
  • Academic preparation with emphasis on high school education; knowledge of best practices across the curriculum and ability to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Must be a flexible collaborator with an understanding of children's developmental stages.

Requirements

  • Must possess or be eligible for CT certification (023).
