About the role
The Executive Pastor will regularly submit a monthly report to the SRC Session. They will oversee the Spanish River Counseling Center (SRCC), the SRC Leadership Team, and attract, hire, develop, and supervise a team of licensed professionals. They will also manage the budget, fund raising, community relations, and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Responsibilities
- Cast vision for the SRCC team and spur growth of the counseling center.
- Oversee budget, fund raising, community relations, and bridge building with other local and national churches and mental health care organizations.
- Oversee Administrative Staff and ensure they are equipped with management tools, technology/software to best meet the requirements of their critical roles. Assist in maintaining a healthy administrative staff.
- Oversee the distribution of new client intakes ensuring they are given to the therapist uniquely equipped to serve them most effectively.
- Oversee therapists’ career growth by assisting their educational desires, offering state approved professional supervision for interning therapists and supporting their desires for additional and specific certifications beyond licensure.
- Consult with local church boards, clergy, ministries and businesses.
- Create and maintain personal client base, providing psychotherapy services and therefore contributing financial support for the center.
- Champion a healthy work culture within SRCC and SRC as a whole.
- Work with SRC marketing personnel to develop, implement and oversee marketing and social media platforms to promote center.
- Provide speaking opportunities for SRCC therapists to promote their specific passions and qualifications for serving specific areas of emotional, spiritual and relational needs.
- Work with other ministries of SRC, including SRCS, to ensure that SRCC is integrated in the church and helping to create on-ramps for people to move from SRCC to SRC and SRCS and vice versa.
- Ensure SRCC maintains full compliance with all applicable Florida state licensing regulations, including the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling requirements.
- Oversee HIPAA compliance across all clinical operations, including client records, electronic communications, telehealth platforms, and third-party vendor agreements.
- Maintain current knowledge of and adherence to mandatory reporting laws (e.g., child abuse, elder abuse, Baker Act, Marchman Act) and ensure all clinical staff are trained and compliant.
- Develop, review, and update SRCC policies and procedures annually to align with current legal, ethical, and professional standards (ACA, APA, AAMFT codes of ethics).
- Manage and maintain appropriate liability insurance coverage for the center and ensure all clinicians carry current individual malpractice insurance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for any legal, regulatory, or licensing inquiries related to SRCC operations.
- Develop and maintain a risk management plan that addresses clinical liability, client safety, staff safety, and organizational exposure.
- Establish and maintain clinical documentation standards across all practitioners, ensuring timely, thorough, and ethically compliant record-keeping.
- Implement a peer review and case consultation process to support clinical excellence and collaborative care among therapists.
- Develop and oversee a quality assurance program that includes regular clinical audits, treatment outcome tracking, and client satisfaction measurement.
- Ensure all clinical services reflect evidence-based practices integrated with a Christ-centered approach to care.
- Provide clinical oversight of high-risk cases, including those involving suicidality, abuse, addiction, and severe mental health conditions.
- Facilitate regular clinical team meetings for case consultation, training, and professional development.
- Establish and enforce clear policies for client intake, informed consent, treatment planning, session documentation, and discharge procedures.
- Client Caseload: Maintain a personal clinical caseload of [number to be determined] direct client hours per week.
- Center Growth: Achieve annual client volume and revenue growth targets as established in the approved budget.
- Staff Retention: Maintain therapist retention rates at or above industry benchmarks through healthy culture, competitive support, and professional development investment.
- Client Satisfaction: Achieve and maintain client satisfaction scores at or above [target] based on standardized feedback instruments administered regularly.
- Budget Management: Operate within the approved annual budget, providing monthly financial reports and variance explanations to the Executive Pastor and Session.
- Clinical Quality: Ensure completion of annual clinical audits with documentation compliance rates at or above 95%.
- Community Engagement: Develop and execute community-facing events, workshops, or speaking engagements to expand SRCC’s reach.
- Church Integration: Establish and maintain measurable referral pathways between SRCC, SRC ministries, and SRCS, tracking client-to-church engagement outcomes quarterly.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7–10 years of post-licensure clinical practice experience in psychotherapy, with demonstrated expertise across a range of presenting concerns.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in a clinical setting, such as clinical director, program director, practice manager, or equivalent supervisory role.
- Demonstrated success in building, growing, or managing a group counseling practice or counseling center, including financial oversight and staff development.
- Experience providing clinical supervision to pre-licensed therapists and interns, with current Florida state-approved supervisor designation.
- Track record of collaboration with church leadership, pastoral staff, and ministry teams in integrating clinical care within a church or faith-based context.
- Experience in crisis intervention, critical incident response, and developing clinical protocols for high-risk populations.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and ongoing management of the center’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) / practice management system, ensuring it meets clinical, billing, and compliance needs.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging clinical technologies (telehealth, digital assessments, outcome measurement tools) to enhance the quality and accessibility of care.
- Organize and lead Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) for staff, volunteers, and congregants following traumatic events.
- Develop proactive community care initiatives (support groups, psychoeducation workshops, grief ministry partnerships) that position SRCC as a resource for the broader Boca Raton community.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. from a regionally accredited university with studies related to, but not limited to, counseling psychology, ministry and leadership and/or theology.
- State licensed Psychotherapist as either a Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, Social Worker or a combination thereof.
- Career history of successfully developing and maintaining a private practice client base and case load.
- State approved supervisor for overseeing the licensure needs of interning therapists.
- State approved CEU provider.
- Current Liability Insurance and CEUs for continued licensing.

- Affiliation in local and/or national Christian counseling organizations (e.g., Focus on the Family, American Association of Christian Counselors, Faithful & True Ministries).
- State Certification – Certified Addiction Professional or Board-Certified Sex Therapist
- Certified EMDR Practitioner or other empirically valid trauma resolution therapy
