About the role
Part-time position providing Spanish interpretation services in a medical setting. Hours are Monday–Thursday 4 pm to 8 pm and Friday 12 pm to 5 pm.
Qualifications
- Fluency in verbal, reading, and written bilingual communication skills – Spanish & English
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to diminish barriers on the patients’ and SCHC’s behalf
- Knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish and in English
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience interpreting preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide translation services and support non-English speaking patients and their families during clinical visits
- Work directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff
- Assist patients in completing all necessary intake forms at initial visit, including but not limited to demographic and medical history, and financial verification
- Assist social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process
- Travel to local agencies or hospitals to provide interpreting services as needed
