Spanish Bilingual Personal Banker: Madison Area ($1.25 per hour premium!)
About the role
UW Credit Union is hiring a Spanish Bilingual Personal Banker to serve our members in the Madison area. Join our team as a Financial Specialist and be part of a rewarding journey at UW Credit Union. Base pay includes a $1.25 per hour Spanish Bilingual premium. The first 12-weeks of employment for our Financial Specialists are devoted to onboarding and training. Your role involves understanding members' needs, offering financial education, and consultative sales - making tailored recommendations to help them achieve their financial goals and dreams.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Financial Specialist is different every day, but typical tasks include:
- Starting the day at your assigned branch location and meeting with your team for a morning huddle to discuss updates and goals for the day
- Greeting members as they come into the branch and being a resource to our members
- Meeting with members to learn about their financial goals and educating them on financial products and services
- Opening up accounts, completing loan applications, answering member questions, and handling transactions
- Joining the weekly 8:00 a.m. team meeting to learn about team updates, branch news, and new products
- Understanding all credit union products and services through training and self-guided learning tools
- Calling members to check-in and follow-up on new account activity
- Partnering with team members to meet the goals for product sales and referrals
- Being a leader at the branch and serving as a mentor and positive role model for Tellers and Financial Specialists
- Handling escalations to effectively address critical member needs and concerns
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- 3+ years of customer service and/or consultative sales experience
- Demonstrated analytical, accuracy, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn a wide range of knowledge and continue to learn and develop your skill-set in a robust feedback environment
- Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and provide top-notch service
- Demonstrated experience being flexible, adaptable, coachable, and collaborative in an autonomous and constantly changing work environment
- Natural skill-set to lead and influence others
- Proficiency with personal computer and office software
- Maintenance of Notary Public certification in accordance with state requirements
Desired but not required qualifications include:
- 1-2 years of experience working in a financial institution or in a retail leadership role
- Knowledge of new accounts, savings instruments, and consumer lending
- Consultative sales experience

Pay and Schedule
This training class is anticipated to start on September 21st, with a combination of virtual, classroom, and branch training for the first 12-weeks of employment. On-the-job training will take place at a greater Madison area branch location, with 3 hours a week dedicated to studying to pass the Credit Life Credit Disability (CLCD) Exam.
