Spanish and English Interpreter (Casual Part Time)
About the role
The 911 Center seeks an experienced Spanish and English Interpreter to facilitate smooth communication between citizens and Telecommunicators during emergency and non-emergency calls. The role involves facilitating communication in a fast-paced, secure environment where continuous speaking and frequent telephone communication are necessary.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate communication between citizens and Telecommunicators during emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Ensure accurate interpretation and translation of Spanish and English.
- Work in a fast-paced, secure environment with continuous speaking and frequent telephone communication.
- Provide support during stressful situations involving citizens who may be unable to communicate effectively.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Two years of experience related to the program area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fully bilingual in oral interpretation and written translation of Spanish and English.
- Ability to obtain DCI certification through the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Qualifications
- Pass a criminal history record check through the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
- Willingness to take a preliminary qualifications test prior to a phone interview.

Pay
$18.00/hour.
Schedule
Up to 19 hours per week. Varying schedule with flex hours each week to meet the needs of the department. Must be available to report for emergency work assignments during emergency situations.
