The Spanish A Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Spanish teaching for non-native speakers, enabling pupils to make strong progress in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The role includes planning and delivering a well-sequenced Spanish A curriculum, assessing pupil progress, promoting positive behavior, contributing to the wider life of the school, and working closely with colleagues and families to support every child’s development.
This role requires a specialist teacher who understands how children learn and can adapt teaching effectively for pupils across a range of ages and stages, from Year 7 to Year 13. Experience teaching IGCSE and IB Spanish is ideal.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum, policies, and external assessment requirements, differentiating learning to ensure each student is stretched and supported.
- Regularly assess students’ in-class and at-home learning, providing targeted feedback to drive progress and ensure all students reach their potential.
- Establish a positive classroom and school environment where students feel valued, supported, and ready to take risks in their learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues as an active member of the learning community, sharing best practices and dedicating yourself to continuous professional development.
- Contribute to the school’s co-curricular program, including leading clubs and participating in whole-school initiatives to enrich students’ educational experience.
- Maintain open and constructive communication with parents, building strong partnerships to support students’ progress and well-being.
Requirements
- Experience teaching IGCSE and IB Spanish (preferred).
- A genuine passion for education, with the ability to engage, motivate, and positively impact young people.
- A proven track record of excellence in personal, academic, and professional achievements.
- In-depth expertise in and passion for Spanish language instruction, with the ability to inspire students and support outstanding progress.
- Expertise in assessing student progress, providing targeted feedback, and enhancing performance in external assessments.
- Experience in providing pastoral care and promoting student well-being, with a focus on individual attention and high standards of welfare.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and independently, and a track record of building strong relationships with families.
- A commitment to continuous professional development.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, able to plan and prioritize a varied workload, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
- PGCE, QTS, or equivalent, with excellent academic credentials and, ideally, evidence of post-graduate study.
- Energy, enthusiasm, and a positive, flexible, and resourceful approach to working in a dynamic school environment.
