About the role
The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, focusing on space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit. You will apply your engineering knowledge to ensure spacecraft meet customer needs through rigorous systems engineering.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Lead Systems Engineer to ensure design standards, processes, and best practices are met.
- Apply technical principles and tools like CONOPS development, requirements analysis, and interface definition.
- Ensure requirements are properly defined, verified, and validated, and that hardware and software components meet system requirements and mission goals.
- Collaborate with various program elements to create holistic solutions and manage technical, schedule, and cost risks.
- Assist the flight software team in resolving implementation issues, reviewing development processes, and linking them to L3 requirements.
- Support the Assembly, Integration, and Test team in developing test procedures and scripts, and assist with integration activities.
- Prepare proposals based on spacecraft capabilities and functions, manage technical performance measures, and participate in gated program reviews.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical field.
- Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering fundamentals and experience in multiple system lifecycle phases.
- At least 5+ years of related experience in spacecraft design, development, and flight test.
- Experience in defining spacecraft system requirements and concept definitions that cover a wide range of mission objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Active US Government TS/SCI security clearance.
Qualifications
- M.S. degree in a relevant technical field preferred.
- Domain experience with spacecraft system and subsystem functions, interfaces, and communication protocols.
- Experience in defining and performing complex trade studies.
- Experience with design, development, and certification of spaceflight systems.
- Experience with logical and physical architecture definition and decomposition.
- Experience using hardware or software testbeds and lab environments for software and system verification.
