About the role

E-Space is seeking a Radiation Effects Engineer to assist in the execution and development of our company's Radiation Hardness Assurance Program. The role is critical in ensuring our hardware can withstand the harsh radiation conditions encountered in orbit.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with electrical design and systems engineering teams to identify electronic components requiring radiation characterization or qualification.
  • Coordinate with mechanical and packaging teams to identify proper satellite structure design to mitigate dosing effects, single event effects, and spacecraft charging effects.
  • Develop and maintain radiation s campaign plans — including s objectives, radiation source selection, s levels, sample selection, and acceptance criteria.
  • Engage and manage s laboratories (e.g., heavy ion, proton, gamma, or Co-60 facilities), ensuring s setups and conditions meet project requirements.
  • Prepare s articles and documentation in advance of s campaigns, including part and equipment lists, schematics, and biasing conditions.
  • Oversee or conduct s execution, coordinating logistics, facility scheduling, and data acquisition.
  • Analyze and interpret radiation s data, prepare reports, and communicate findings and design recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to design reviews by providing expertise on radiation effects and mitigation strategies and guide component selection and structure design.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with radiation sing or analysis of electronic components.
  • Working knowledge of radiation effects on semiconductors, including Total Ionizing Dose (TID), Single-Event Effects (SEE), and Displacement Damage (DD).
  • Experience with Spacecraft Charging Effects and familiarity with NASA-HDBK-4002, NASA-STD-4005, or similar.
  • Experience with Mission Environment Generation tools such as OMERE, SPENVIS, or similar.
  • Experience preparing and executing radiation s campaigns in collaboration with an internal team and external laboratories.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical results clearly.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-883, ESCC, NASA, or ESA ECSS standards).
  • Travel required to support s campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in electrical engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with spaceborne systems or radiation-tolerant component design.
  • Hands-on experience in lab sing or data analysis tools (LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python).
  • Experience with structural dose analysis and shielding optimization tools such as FASTRAD or similar.
  • Experience with single event effects tools such as CREME96 or similar.
  • Experience with particle interaction in matter and related simulation tools such as SRIM or similar.
