We have an opening for an experienced Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer to join our Space Systems organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design and fabrication of the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) suite of test sets. These test sets are used to check out, integrate, and operate Flight hardware during ground test, providing power, control, telemetry, safety interlocking, and cooling. This candidate will be part of a small EGSE Design Team supporting multiple programs. This position is 100% based at our Linthicum, MD campus; remote and hybrid work are not available.

Responsibilities

• Panel and cable design, electrical interconnects, and schematics
• Developing acceptance criteria and certification procedures
• Hardware checkout and troubleshooting
• Root cause determination, problem resolution, and documentation
• Interface with subsystem test engineers, test operators, technicians, systems administrators, security teams, and vendors to support various test set tasks
• Full design cycle of EGSE, from conception through design to fabrication and integration/test
• Perform hands-on integration, checkout, and troubleshooting of test equipment builds in a lab environment, including electrical/continuity checks and functional testing

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
• Basic understanding of hardware design, including panel and/or cable design, schematic layouts
• Experience with electrical designs such as integrated (analog, power, digital), panel design, cable design, and schematic layouts
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Active Secret clearance required at time of application

Qualifications

Level 2 (Systems Engineer): 2 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree.

Level 3 (Principal Systems Engineer): 5 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree with 3 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access
• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline
• Proficient with hands-on troubleshooting of electrical hardware
• Proficient with integrated (analog, power, digital) hardware design
• Proficient with lab test equipment, such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, or related tools
• Proficient with electrical design tools (e.g., Zuken, AutoCAD, PSpice)
• Proficient in test automation software (LabView, TCL, MatLab)

Pay

Primary Level (Systems Engineer): $87,600.00 – $131,400.00

Secondary Level (Principal Systems Engineer): $108,800.00 – $163,200.00

The salary range represents a general guideline. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
