About the role
Draper Laboratory is seeking a highly-motivated student interested in the design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) algorithms and software for complex civilian or commercial space applications. The candidate will work in a team responsible for the development of simulation models and analysis tools to evaluate GN&C functionality and performance.
- Simulation development
- Stability analysis
- Guidance and control law development
- Navigation accuracy assessments
- Robustness analysis
- Support of GN&C software development and testing
- Development and maintenance of high-fidelity, 6-Degree-of-Freedom (6-DOF) dynamic simulation models of the vehicle
- Implementation of non-real-time simulations and performance of simulation-based analysis to define GN&C system requirements and capabilities
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance engineering solutions for challenging problems
- Implement, test, perform analysis, and provide documentation support
- Generate and present test reports including plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions from data collected and analyzed throughout the test process
- Complete assignments designed to develop a practical knowledge of processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, and systems as well as their interrelationships within engineering disciplines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Enrolled in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Undergraduate or graduate student in Engineering, Math, or Physics
- Familiarity with several of the following languages and tools: C/C++, Python, MATLAB and/or Simulink
- Familiarity with 6-DOF Spacecraft Dynamic Modeling and Simulation
- Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with GN&C is preferred

Pay
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $20.00 - $45.00 per hour. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
