Space Analyst

About the role

The Space Analyst serves as a central resource for accurate campus space information and supports space planning, governance, and Facilities-led planning efforts through organized data, clear documentation, and coordination support. This role works primarily with the Missoula campus, with limited support for satellite and affiliate locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the University's space inventory and space management systems as the authoritative source for campus space data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across databases, drawings, and records
• Support campus space planning by preparing data analyses, utilization reports, comparison scenarios, and documentation to inform planning and decision-making
• Assist with Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA/FCI) and Long-Range Building Program (LRBP) initiatives through data collection, organization, documentation, scheduling, and coordination activities
• Coordinate space-related requests, evaluate routine space assignments, develop supporting materials for review, and independently manage straightforward campus relocation projects while assisting with complex moves
• Prepare and maintain CAD/Revit drawings, diagrams, exhibits, and other visual documentation to support space planning, audits, and facility management
• Conduct site visits to verify space conditions, measurements, and documentation standards, including occasional travel to satellite and affiliate campuses
• Collaborate with Facilities Services staff, campus departments, and affiliate partners to support space management initiatives under the direction of the Associate Director for Planning, Design, and Construction

Qualifications

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MS Office suite software
• Ability to learn space module of FAMIS Facility Management Software within six (6) months
• Comfort working with structured datasets and inventories
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects, engage diverse stakeholders, maintain confidential information, and communicate complex ideas clearly
• Commitment to teamwork, integrity, and supporting the student experience through well-managed campus spaces
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret architectural drawings
• Familiarity with ADA guidelines and accessibility considerations
• Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, facilities planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
