About the Role

The Straight Polish Operator is responsible for operating equipment to meet quality and productivity goals as outlined in the company's quality system. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the LP (likely "Line Production" or similar) area and its functions.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment in the Coil/Straight Polish area to achieve quality and productivity targets.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Complete required training, including ISO, AS-400, crane, and forklift training.
• Manage administrative tasks such as time sheets, time-off requests, and accident/incident reports.
• Follow product identification, parking, and recycling programs.
• Comply with company policies, including the serious misconduct policy and LP objectives.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn, adapt, and retain information.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for technical tasks.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires visual ability (with or without correction) and communication abilities.
• Mobility within the plant is necessary.

Health and Safety

• Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
• Follow company safety rules and report any safety hazards or defective equipment immediately.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including:
  • Safety shoes
  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection
  • Hard hat
  • Additional PPE as required (e.g., respirators, fire-retardant clothing, acid PPE). Note: Respirator use requires being clean-shaven.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Follow all Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.
• Comply with all environmental policies and regulations.

Work Environment

• Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
• Operate in clean, well-ventilated, and safe work areas.
