Reporting to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the Full-Time Assistant Coach supports all aspects of the men’s basketball program by providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship to student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Provide skill instruction and conditioning work consistent with a high-performing NCAA Division III varsity athletic program.
- Recruit and retain highly talented athletes who also have the academic acumen to thrive at SU.
- Participation in fund raising activities to support program objectives.
- Compliance with all university, conference, and NCAA policies, procedures, and bylaws.
- Be an outstanding mentor to our students by modeling professionalism and high moral standards.
- Support classroom excellence by utilizing all available university resources in support of students.
Additional duties include serving as an Administrator in Charge (AIC) of select events during the year, participating on campus committees as requested, serving as an instructor for ESS or FRA classes if qualified, and other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics or designee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Proven experience in coaching and ability to demonstrate proper techniques unique to the sport
- CPR and First Aid or a willingness to become certified within three months of hire
- Have knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
Preferred qualifications include collegiate or professional playing experience in the sport and experience in recruiting college-level varsity athletes.
Pay
Starting annual salary: $32,500. The final offer for the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience and may exceed the starting annual salary.
