Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
- Minimum of 1 year tractor-trailer driving experience
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions, including handling receipts, logs, maps, and road signs
- Knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
- Clean and respectable driving record
- Must meet or exceed U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) medical requirements
- Understanding of public safety and security procedures, including applicable policies and regulations
- Familiarity with DOT regulations including Hours of Service (HOS), inspections, and maintenance requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure deliveries and pick-ups are completed efficiently and cost-effectively
- Transport and collect freight from designated locations
- Properly hook and unhook trailers (including operating the landing gear)
- Inspect equipment before, during, and after trips; complete thorough pre- and post-trip inspections
- Plan and maintain efficient delivery routes
- Keep equipment clean and in good working condition
- Represent the company professionally at all times
- Accurately complete and submit daily trip reports
- Operate and maintain equipment safely while complying with all regulations
- Follow OSHA, state, and federal safety guidelines
- Adhere to all company and regulatory safety policies
- Maintain a valid CDL at all times
- Immediately report any accidents involving equipment or personnel
- Notify dispatch promptly of delays, breakdowns, weather issues, or emergencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
- Ability to multitask and respond to emergencies calmly and effectively
- Occasional over-the-road trips (1–2 nights with advance notice)
- May be subject to irregular work schedules
- 25%–50% of time spent outdoors in varying and sometimes challenging conditions
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift
- Walking the length of the tractor-trailer as needed
- Light lifting of materials
- Opening and closing trailer doors
- Frequent cranking of trailer dollies
- Occasional climbing, crouching, and kneeling
- Frequent entry and exit from the truck cab
