About the role

HDR is seeking a Wastewater Market Sector Leader for the Southern California area. The ideal candidate will have a passion for protecting public health and a deep understanding of the "One Water" concept. This role involves setting the vision and strategy for the Southern California program, supporting strategic wastewater projects, and engaging with industry associations.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with regional and national technology and market sector leaders to advance local capabilities and support strategic wastewater projects.
  • Engage in industry associations and forums, taking leadership roles in committees and submitting conference abstracts/proceedings.
  • Act as a client manager for selected agencies, serving as Principal in charge, Project Manager, Technical Lead, and/or Quality Manager on projects.
  • Identify and develop new project opportunities, serving as a pursuit champion and providing resources for HDR pursuits.
  • Support HDR’s One Water Institute by leading or participating in applied research projects with the Water Research Foundation.
  • Manage the wastewater Market Sector staff in HDR’s SoCal offices, coordinating with and supporting the Water Business Group Manager and wastewater Market Sector Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of industry experience, primarily in Southern California.
  • Strong ability to analyze the marketplace and strategically position HDR.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software.
  • Experience in developing and managing strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
  • Experience in developing and managing a wide range of client relationships and specific program/project pursuits.
  • Experience in overall staff development, including recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
  • Experience with industry associations and maintaining a visible profile in the market sector.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers, and Area Managers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and an attitude and commitment to being an active participant in the employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
  • Experienced in overall staff development, including recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector.

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles may be eligible for limited benefits.
