Southeast Regional Waste Business Development Leader

About the role

We are seeking an individual to join our nationally ranked team of professionals. This business development position will serve to drive the growth of the solid waste program throughout the Southeast.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and direct marketing strategy and lead pursuit teams for our programs in the Southeast.
  • Support the strategic planning process and implementation of growth initiatives and investments.
  • Collaborate with Sector and Practice Leadership to ensure that Local Business Development Leaders and Waste Sector Leads are driving market opportunities within the Sector growth by leveraging all service lines.
  • Strategically grow the Region by identifying market sector opportunities and implementing plans to capture additional opportunities and markets.
  • Cook up with Regional RBG Directors, Practice Leaders, and local areas to develop a team that is coordinated and focused on driving the market sector with key clients and client opportunities at a regional level.
  • Track market changes through client/industry involvement and be the primary holder of our image/reputation.
  • Attend state/regional waste and industry related conferences.
  • Develop and collaborate on a Waste approach for Client Development Plans, inclusive of a system to track/monitor progress of these plans.
  • Serve as Manager for select key clients.
  • Possess & maintain knowledge of client needs, plans, current and trending business environment, and their assessment of HDR in order to anticipate, track and capture contract assignments.
  • Leverage existing HDR resources to provide full cross sector and multi business class collaboration for targeted clients.
  • Collaborate with the Waste Sector Leadership Management Team. Assist in developing market strategies, strategic initiatives, and business development.
  • Work with local area leadership to identify market opportunities, create relationships, and grow the Waste Sector.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Maintain a professional or engineering registration or certificate or have related technical experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated "self-starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
  • Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a network of clients and industry partners.
  • Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person.
  • Demonstrated experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets.
  • Demonstrated experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff.

Preferred Qualifications
