SOUS CHEF (FOOD TRUCK)(FULL TIME)

About the role

We are hiring immediately for a full time SOUS CHEF (FOOD TRUCK) position at Binghamton University. Address: 4400 Vestal Parkway East, Binghamton, NY 13902. Online applications accepted only.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders.
• Supervises hourly food service associates. Includes interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils. Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area.
• Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Relays relevant information directly to supervisor.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Maintains inventory and deliveries of product and supplies. Tracks product production, consumption and waste. Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior culinary and food truck experience is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive large vehicles.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to operate the truck components.
• Culinary education and/or culinary experience include purchasing, inventory, and food production.
• Experience creating custom menus is preferred but not required.
• Position will work in other dining departments during the times the truck is closed for the season.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to navigate tech-related tools such as POS, mobile ordering, monitors, purchasing, and menu platforms.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and flex schedules.
• Ability to lift 40 or more lbs., stand continually for up to 8hrs, and ability to climb in and out of the truck repeatedly.
• Ability to coach, develop, and mentor staff.

Qualifications

Fixed Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour.

Full time schedule; Monday through Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
