Sous Chef

About the role

The Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn Boulder are seeking a Sous Chef to join their team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will manage the kitchen staff, ensuring the daily production, preparation, and presentation of all food for the hotel's restaurant(s) and room service. This role requires managing food and labor costs, assisting in menu and production changes, scheduling and maintaining kitchen equipment, monitoring and controlling costs, promoting safety, and fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage kitchen staff in daily production, preparation, and presentation of food
• Monitor and control food and labor costs
• Aid in creating and implementing menu and production changes
• Ensure quality, consistent product in a safe, sanitary work environment
• Manage human resources in kitchen production and preparation areas
• Schedule and maintain kitchen, equipment, and sanitation
• Monitor, analyze, and control labor and food costs
• Promote accident prevention program to minimize liabilities and expenses

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent
• One to two years of related experience
• Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices

Qualifications

• Experiential knowledge of food and beverage management
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 75%
• Full range of mobility and ability to travel 30-50 feet
• Continuous standing for extended periods
• Excellent comprehension and literacy skills
