Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring food service delivery standards are met and maintained
  • Completing food/supplies inventory and ordering
  • Providing support for the culinary team in the absence of Culinary Services Director
  • Preparing and presenting food and meals in accordance with planned menus, recipes, and established portion control procedures
  • Adhering to established cleanliness standards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Detect potentially hazardous/dangerous situations and take corrective actions
  • Follow recipe preparation instructions and specific culinary procedures
  • Understand and adhere to proper food storage procedures
  • Adhere to specific dietary needs
  • Perform duties in compliance with established Universal Precautions, fire safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures
  • Communicate effectively in English

About the Role

Era Living is seeking a full-time Sous Chef to join their Culinary Services team at University House Issaquah Community in Issaquah, WA. Shifts are available from Saturday to Wednesday. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three plus years cooking experience in a high volume food service establishment
  • Experience training kitchen staff in culinary techniques or other kitchen duties
  • Food Handler’s Certificate or obtainable within 14 days of hire
  • First Aid and CPR certified or obtainable within 30 days of hire
  • ServSafe Certification or obtainable as determined by Community needs

Qualifications

Possess culinary knowledge and ability to perform food service functions in the kitchen (record daily temperature logs; distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; notify Culinary Services Director/Food Services Director of needs)

Proven ability to follow recipe preparation instructions and specific culinary procedures

Ability to understand and adhere to proper food storage procedures and establish cleanliness standards

Independently able to perform food preparation tasks

Pass DSHS and State background check

First Aid and CPR certified

ServSafe Certification or obtainable as determined by Community needs
