About the role

Hiring Department Procurement supports the Universities and UM System by handling a high volume of lower dollar requisitions and contracts for various commodities. Duties include coordinating with Legal for contract reviews, initiating informal bids, evaluating bid quotes, identifying strategic contracts, assisting with contract renewals, and preparing reports.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Legal on review of contracts and variances outside standard contractual language.
  • Cook with other areas for appropriate approvals required.
  • Initiate informal bids based on specifications that meet end users' needs; evaluate and analyze bid quotes to determine lowest price for awarding.
  • Review aggregate spend on lower dollar purchases to identify where strategic contracts are needed; recommend potential contracts to procurement team members for initiating sourcing events.
  • Absorb assistance from strategic sourcing specialists with contract renewals, completion of tracking spreadsheets, and processing change orders as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, utilization, other expense reduction or cost avoidance opportunities, improving customer satisfaction and the total value proposition of UM Procurement.
  • Absorb assistance with and monitor tracking spreadsheets for administrative reports as needed.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as requested.
  • Data entry as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
  • Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience.
  • Ability to multi-task; attention to details; organized.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Shift Negotiable, but typically 7:00am-4:00pm, 7:30am-4:30pm, or 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.

  • Salary Range: $19.23 - $21.63 per hour

Schedule
