Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaming closely with R&D teams to ensure supply chain support of rapid prototyping projects including providing guidance on component and supplier selection and facilitating rapid sourcing strategies and tactics
- Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for various commodities and technologies, aligning with business objectives and product roadmaps
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers globally, ensuring adherence to Viavi's quality, cost, and delivery requirements
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve favorable outcomes and long-term partnerships
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure seamless new product introductions (NPIs) and ongoing product support
- Mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, economic, and logistical challenges
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies to inform sourcing decisions
- Develop and implement robust sourcing processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Prepare and present reports on sourcing performance, cost savings, and risk mitigation to senior management
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field); Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, or procurement engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
- Proven track record of successful supplier management, negotiation, and cost reduction in a high-tech manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, plastics, PCB assembly, optics, electronics)
- Experience with global supply chains and working with international suppliers
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and supply chain management tools
- Absence of certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) is not a requirement
- Absence of ability to travel domestically and internationally as required is not a requirement
Pay Range
VIAVI Solutions offers a pay range of $84,000 to $156,000 per year, with exceptional qualifications, experience, and location potentially impacting the salary.
