Sourcing Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sourcing Engineer to join our Compression Systems & Services Americas Sourcing Organization. This role involves supporting the development, implementation, and management of sourcing strategies to provide optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance. The Sourcing Engineer collaborates with engineering, operations, and quality teams, as well as key suppliers, to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets while fostering positive supplier relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier selection, negotiations, and RFP processes, including pricing, payment terms, lead times, and inventory programs, while fostering strong supplier relationships.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through data analysis, hands-on material reviews, and continuous improvement ideation sessions aligned with plant priorities.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to qualify new parts, address supplier performance issues, and ensure alignment with operational strategies like localization and plant rationalization.
- Support new product development (NPD) activities by managing preliminary project costs, driving procurement efforts, and aligning with business cases through product launch.
- Track and report sourcing activity metrics and savings, ensuring timely and accurate performance measurement while supporting plant teams in resolving escalated issues.
- Coverage with cross-functional teams—including commodity, materials, operations, engineering, finance, and quality—to complete projects within timelines and achieve expected benefits.
- Represent the sourcing function in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and Major Model Review (MMR) events, ensuring post-event actions are executed effectively.
- Promote continuous improvement through ideation sessions, aligning strategies to business priorities and addressing systemic supplier performance issues in quality, delivery, and warranty.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience working in an Industrial manufacturing environment with either sourcing experience or experience working with suppliers.
- 2+ years of experience with vendor assessments and negotiating supplier agreements.
- 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel.

Preferences

- Experience using an ERP or CRM tool, preference is either Oracle, SAP or QLIK.
