About the Role
The Sound Engineer will execute the setup, operation, and teardown of audio systems; assist with inventory; and provide general sound system maintenance. This is a part-time, hourly position requiring availability for days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
This position pays an hourly rate of $38.91.
Responsibilities
- Execute the setup, operation, and teardown of audio systems.
- Work safely and efficiently during varying weather and times of day/night using a variety of equipment.
- Promote a safe working environment by following life safety and emergency programs.
- Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others.
- Troubleshoot unplanned challenges and remain flexible to adjust to situations as they occur.
- Provide general sound system maintenance and assist with inventory.
- Perform physical tasks including frequent bending, carrying, moving, climbing, working from heights, lifting, sitting, exposure to moderate-to-loud noises, and extensive walking.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. (or equivalent) is required.
- 2-3 years of previous experience with sound engineering.
- Familiarity with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, and event-related services.
- Basic math skills for accurate inventory tracking and event setups.
- Ability to operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar (preferred).
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively.
- Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional and courteous communication with employees, management, guests, and clients.
- Maintain a professional demeanor among clients, talent, and guests, demonstrating high customer service standards.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
