About the Role
Sorts incoming merchandise into specified classifications to supplement store productivity and increase sales.
Responsibilities
- Sorts merchandise.
- Examines merchandise to determine if item is sellable or non-sellable.
- Disposes of non-sellable merchandise before it reaches the pricer’s table.
- Does not determine sellability of “debatable” items; these are passed to the pricer for decision.
- Places sellable items in the bin for the pricer to price.
- Meets timelines and production goals.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area for safety and efficiency.
- Ensures smooth flow of product in and out of the workstation.
- Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including tasks outside the primary area of employment.
Requirements
- Knowledge of styles and trends.
- Ability to identify merchandise quality.
- Ability to work as a productive team member.
- Experience working with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities.
- Good judgment and listening skills.
- Energy to handle fast-paced work.
Physical Demands
- Works inside in a production and retail environment with exposure to temperature fluctuations.
- Regularly required to speak, hear, stand, and move throughout the store.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds using upper body strength.
- Constantly standing, bending, stooping, and occasionally walking.
- Must be able to lift arms to shoulder height or above.
- Must be able to push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds.
- May be exposed to dust from donations.
