Sorter/Separator

About the Role

Sorts incoming merchandise into specified classifications to supplement store productivity and increase sales.

Responsibilities

• Sorts merchandise.
• Examines merchandise to determine if item is sellable or non-sellable.
• Disposes of non-sellable merchandise before it reaches the pricer’s table.
• Does not determine sellability of “debatable” items; these are passed to the pricer for decision.
• Places sellable items in the bin for the pricer to price.
• Meets timelines and production goals.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area for safety and efficiency.
• Ensures smooth flow of product in and out of the workstation.
• Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including tasks outside the primary area of employment.

• Ability to identify merchandise quality.
• Ability to work as a productive team member.
• Experience working with a diverse workforce.
• Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities.
• Good judgment and listening skills.
• Energy to handle fast-paced work.

Physical Demands

• Works inside in a production and retail environment with exposure to temperature fluctuations.
• Regularly required to speak, hear, stand, and move throughout the store.
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds using upper body strength.
• Constantly standing, bending, stooping, and occasionally walking.
• Must be able to lift arms to shoulder height or above.
• Must be able to push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds.
• May be exposed to dust from donations.
