Sorter

Essential Responsibilities

• Sorts a wide variety of reusable waste material for recycling in accordance with established standards and procedures.
• Assures that contaminated or non-recyclable materials are separated from recyclable materials.
• Sorts through materials on a conveyor to view and recognize type.
• Opens bags to inspect contents and empties or changes sorted materials containers as needed.
• Maintains a safe work area.
• Looks out for, reports on, and takes appropriate action regarding any hazardous materials in the waste stream.
• Absides by company policies and procedures and state and local regulations.
• Takes on other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Entry level position.
