ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures convicted sex offenders are registered and consistently maintained with Tribal, State and Federal registries.
- Perform as secondary liaison with sentencing jurisdiction, court personnel, community people/groups, service provider organizations, state agencies, and law enforcement agencies.
- Verify data by comparing it to source documents.
- Type in data provided directly from clients.
- Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested.
- Affords assistance with general administration duties.
- Performs regular backups to ensure data preservation.
- Sorts and organizes paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost.
- Creates spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes.
- Transfers data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recorders or optical scanners.
- Updates existing data.
- Affords assistance to convicted sex offenders with registering and consistently maintaining compliance with Tribal, State, and Federal registration laws.
- Affords assistance to convicted sex offenders with compliance with court orders and/or probation or parole.
- Affords assistance in conducting office interviews to ensure offenders comply.
- Affords assistance in encouraging offenders to improve their contacts.
- Refers sex offenders for evaluation for chemical dependency, sex offender treatment programs, etc., and affords assistance in maintaining contract on client's fulfillment of mandated court orders.
- Develops and maintains case files as assigned by supervisor. Ensures that all required documentation is included in case files.
- Affords assistance in creation and maintenance of caseload database.
- Affords assistance in arranging law enforcement and community education workshops.
- Affords assistance in all the SMART Grant activities.
- Affords assistance in working with the Finance Department to assure the financial structure of the grant is well maintained.
- Affords assistance in preparing reports for the SMART Program Manager and the ONLES Chief of Police in a timely manner.
- Affords assistance in working with procurement to provide all travel and training sessions for the Tribe's SORNA Team and attends all conferences and training as required under this Program.
- Affords assistance in working closely with the other law enforcement agencies and facilitates activities to reach the goals and objectives of the Program in a timely manner.
- Affords assistance in working with State and Federal law enforcement agencies and as a member of the Tribe's SORNA Team.
- Affords assistance in ensuring that the Sex Offender Registry Notification Act is implemented and all codes are followed.
- Affords assistance in ensuring that the website is maintained regularly.
- Attends all mandatory trainings and meetings pertaining to tribal and Federal compliance of SORNA.
- Affords assistance in submitting annual reports to the Tribe's Attorney General for approval.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED. Experience in law enforcement.
- Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations: Must possess a valid Nebraska Drivers' License.
- Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Ability to plan & execute duties and work well with others. Knowledge and use of good judgment with the ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral; with reverence of the Omaha Nation Law Enforcement Services. Knowledge and use of computers and the programs necessary to perform duties. Good coordination skills to effect meetings with notices, agendas and minutes of the meetings to the SORNA Team. Background in coordination of services.
