Sonographer - Ochsner St Anne - PRN

About the role

We are seeking a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. This role collaborates with staff radiologists to perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
• Operates equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
• Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding
• Reviews and transmits patient images to radiologists for preliminary diagnoses
• Completes quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
• Aids in departmental operations, including inventory management and staff scheduling
• Works flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call availability

Requirements

• Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography
• Preferred: 2 years of sonographer experience
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification or registry eligibility within 1 year of hire
• Advanced certification in ultrasound specialties as needed
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

Qualifications

• Proficiency in computer usage and software applications
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to adapt to various patient populations
• Knowledge of anatomy and pathology of organs relevant to ultrasound procedures
